The Winter Street Writers Story

“There’s A Story There!” was the name of the new creative writing class at the Beverly Public Library. Our first meeting was in the New Year, 2013 -- an excellent time for new beginnings.  In spite of snow, ice, and precarious parking, sixteen people attended the first class.  As time went on, we met once a week and our group of regulars numbered ten – with only one male member.  A gentleman who can hold his own, he has a unique perspective on this experience; certainly,we all do.

The group that started out as a creative writing class took an official summer break.  Eight of us returned in September as the Winter Street Writers. We continued to improve our skills, using writing prompts and writing blasts.  We invited and listened to various speakers who were published writers, editors, and internet gurus.  At our meetings, we now used a helpful book on writing as our touchstone text to improve our writing practice.  We matured as a group to the point where we practiced writing workshops and critique work almost every week.  Then we decided:  it’s time to start our blog

Here we are:  a former engineer who is writing a book about twelve unusual life experiences; a blogger and children’s book author whose work as a nutritionist aids her in writing her latest book; a retired nurse who writes mysteries, including a novel set during World War II; a photographer who writes poems, and a novel in progress about a trombone player; a former English teacher who writes of endings, beginnings, and possibilities in vignette form; a mother and grandmother who loves to write poems and family memoir; a mother of three and former blogger who now is focusing more energy on her writing; and a writing coach who scribbles poems and works on a novel.

We are the Winter Street Writers.
We hope you enjoy reading our work as much as we enjoy writing it.
